Buddy
Buddy is a happy, lovable fella. He is 5 years old and loves his sister Jewel. Buddy is a talker and toy/clothes/blanket hoarder.

Buddy knows sit with a little persuasion but you can't find a more loving dog. His walking techniques could use a little refresher but he does try.

Small animals a no - kids 6 and over would be just fine. Buddy tends to tug at your arm for attention which with a little work can be discouraged. Buddy would be a lap dog if you let him.
Loves to be loved and return the favor...

***Buddy and Jewel came in together and would be great to place them together.
Jewel

Jewel is a 6 year old female who came in with Buddy.
She is a very loving – sweet – dog who has a lot of personality.
Jewel loves to get and give attention and carry everything around the house. She can pick up and will talk and bark with it in her mouth.

Jewel knows how to sit. Petting is top priority with her.
WAAGR doesn’t think cats will work – she has been raised with kids but older than 6 would be better since Jeewel is sooooo exuberant.

Jewel is heartworm positive and being treated.
***Buddy and Jewel came in together and would be great to place them together.
Nikki #1151

Sweet, smart, and full of energy, Nikki is great around kids. She loves to give kisses, but will back off if told to do so. Nikki loves belly rubs and hugs. She was an outside dog, so she is working on nice walking on the leash and getting more social. Nikki knows sit, stay, and come here. Nikki is nine years old.
Nikki gets along well with her feline roommate, but is a bit intimidated by other dogs and will be going for social training. She gets a little jealous when all the available hands aren't petting her. Nikki is good natured and quiet and she wants her to have a better life.

Bentley#10141

Bentley is 1-1/2 years old. He is sweet and gentle with kids, a little nervous at times like if you say, "no no Bentley" he cowers. Not a big jumper, loves to cuddle and go for runs, fetches the balls. Gets very excited when you come home and almost smiles by showing his teeth off and on but by no means is he a mean dog.

He does bark when a car or strangers are in the yard until you show him they are ok but even then when they get out of car or come in to pet him he rolls over. Hes all bark no bite I guess you could say. needs a family with kids and one that is home way more than we are. Will make an awesome pet.

Denny #1219
My name is Denny. I am a handsome 5 year old (don't ya think).
I love everybody. I love the other dogs in my foster home and I love my foster folks. Most of all I love my toys.

I really don't know any commands, probably cause I'm playing with my toys all the time. I'm a frisky fella (a puppy at heart). I like to go through my house and pick up one toy after another.

I would most likely be a fit with any family, especially one that has toys. I love people & I love attention. If you would like an opportunity to come & meet me & play toys with me, contact the folks at WAAGR. I forget, did I mention that I like toys??
Lance #1217
Lance is my name and I would really love a new home. I’m 2 years old and I’m sometimes a little timid but once I get to know you I’m a happy, friendly guy. Lance is 2 years old.
Zoe #1203
Zoe is a beautiful pale golden with a grey muzzle and ears. She is a mature lady at 13 1/2 years and enjoys her beauty rest. Zoe enjoys meeting new people and dogs. She loves children and will walk over and gently brush against my 3 and 1 1/2 year old grandsons. She is a bit shy around new men but with gentle handling she will warm up quickly. She barks only when someone comes to the door and stops as soon as the door is opened. She likes to go for short walks and never pulls on the lead. At this time she is not strong enough to go very far, and we don't know yet whether she will get stronger. She is able to get in and out of my van easily and settles down quickly for car rides. She enjoys being brushed and walked right up the ramp into the grooming tub.

Zoe came to WAAGR very thin and in need of some love and attention. She needs to gain 8 to 10 pounds, and her vaccinations are being updated. She also has a few health concerns with her advanced age. She has urinary incontinence which is being treated with medication by the vet.
In the meantime I'm using a diaper if she needs to be home alone for any length of time. She also has some arthritis that causes her to be hesitant on stairs and slippery floors. She needs a nice soft blanket on the floor to cushion her joints but she rejects her bed and doesn't climb on any furniture. Finally she has a condition that I believe is called esophageal paralysis. (I will talk to Dr Sue to double check the name and spelling). In a young dog this would be treated with surgery, in Zoe's case she just needs to be kept calm and quiet. All that being said she is in good health for a senior dog.
Zoe would do best with a family where someone is home most of the time. She would do better in a family without children as she needs to be kept fairly quiet, she would love a chance to visit with children though. Zoe doesn't like thunder storms or dog kennels. She is not destructive she naps when left alone for short periods.
Amber #1201
Amber is a 6 month old female spayed golden/lab mix

Amber has been in foster care for 2 weeks now and is ready for her forever home. She came from a shelter where no one paid any interest in her to take her home. WAAGR took her in - and found her to be a very sweet little girl.

Amber is a very active puppy - who needs puppy classes - she has a great personality - happy - happy. Because she didn't have the proper upbringing we are working on the potty training. Jumping is a great art that she has learned in a kennel - jumping for attention - this is also a work in progress.

What Amber needs is someone to love and direct her with patience. Older kids would be better - even another doggy buddy for her to play and learn from would be great. As you can see - she can entertain herself!!
Fallon #1208
Meet Fallon….
Fallon will be arriving on January 27th and is looking for her forever home.

She is 6 months old – spayed UTD and ready to take on the world.
Sweet little thing that loves to jump up and hug. She's food motivated and would be a great candidate for an obedience class.
Might be a counter surfer since she loves to jump up and look around.
Coco #1171
Coco is a 7 year-old, 3-legged, red-haired beauty. Coco has only known life with 3 legs; her front right leg was surgically removed when she was 3 days old either from a birth defect or injury. Unfortunately, Coco went undiagnosed with hypothryroidsm and gained a large amount of weight that put undue stress on her back legs causing severe swelling on her ankle joints.

Coco came to WAAGR in 9/11. She had great difficulty walking more than short distances. Her coat was matted with thinning patches and had a bare, rat-like looking tail. Coco is currently on thyroid medication and in 3 short months, she has lost over 16 pounds, her coat is filling in, her tail is completely covered with beautiful soft fur and most important, she is able to keep up with her foster canine siblings and will not be left behind for romps in the yard!

Jack #11104
I'm Jack—a one year old retriever mix (Red Fox Labrador, we believe)...from Missouri whose family moved overseas. The humane society found me a foster home, but then the nice lady had to go to the hospital so I was back to the shelter again.

Last week some people came and brought me to Wisconsin. Brrr! It's cold here but I won't care if I can just find a new home. I've been a pretty good boy and I'd like a forever family that takes walks and thinks playing with me is a good way to spend the evening. I'm not a couch potato dog, (though I do sometimes sneak onto the couch).

It would be great if my new family could take me to puppy classes to learn some of the basics. It's okay with me if they have cats, but I'm not sure about kids yet. Oh, and if they have a supply of Snausages, that would be perfect!.
I am house trained, neutered and I walk well with a Gentle Leader collar. I look forward to meeting you soon!
Chloe#1194
Meet Chloe a 1-year-old Golden Doodle!
Chloe is a playful girl who is a total love bug with her people. She loves people and is a mellow girl in the house, but would prefer no cats and children over 12.

Chloe does not need a fenced yard but she does need a home that already has a young, medium to large size well-balanced dog as a playmate. No small dogs, please.

She wants to get all the love and training. Chloe does best with daily walks for exercise and someone home to spend time with her.

She will do very well with continued positive exposure to real world experiences like meeting new dogs and people on her walks. If you think Love Bug Chloe would be a good fit with your family please complete an online WAAGR application.
Bennett #10108 Adoption Pending
Introducing Big Beautiful Ben (Bennett)!
Life has not always been easy for me. I spent the first 6 years of my life living outside in a barn stall with several other dogs and little
human contact. I became ill and stopped eating; losing so much weight, you could count all my ribs.

I became a foster dog with WAAGR in October, 2010. It was very scary to become familiar with all the sounds a household can make but my foster family (especially my canine foster siblings) were very patient with me and taught me how to trust and run and play!

I eventually gained over 20 pounds and I'm told I look very handsome at my current weight of 98 pounds. Now that I am 7, I am looking for a forever home that will help me make a successful transition.

I will need a little extra time to adjust to new changesand think my ideal home would include at least one other canine sibling since I feel most secure in a pack. Ideally my new owners would be retired or work from home and never leave me alone for more than 4 hours at a time. I do not climb on furniture but would love to snuggle with you on your bed if you would let me. I think I am ready to make the move to my forever home. Please take a chance on me!
