Providing Bright New Beginnings To Displaced Golden Retrievers

Adopt Me!

Please note: The goal of WAAGR is to match Goldens with their forever families. If you are interested in adopting a Golden through WAAGR, please return to the previous Adopt Me! page.  There you will find out more information on adopting, including the adoption application.

Below are some of the dogs that are currently in the WAAGR Adoption Program.

 Lacey- #8120
Meet Lacey, a 6-year-old girl who came from a puppy mill before being rescued by WAAGR.  Her foster mom is so very happy with the progress she has made during her time with WAAGR.

Lacey has made amazing progress in the last 11 months.  We have lost the terrified animal who came to us and a whole new dog has come out.  Lacey will now very willingly come up to greet new people and ask for attention, even men.  She has taught herself to run up and down a flight of stairs and in the last month has been initiating play with the other dogs in her foster home.  She still isn't into toys, but she loves her treats and takes them very gently. Lacey's needs are simple:  She just wants to hang out with you, have some free time in a fenced yard and loves to ride in the car!   She has been out to the farm where her foster mom boards her horse, off leash, and loves to go exploring.  She doesn't wander too far and when she gets tired, she jumps back into the car!

Lacey has been around the horses, chickens, cats, and nothing much phases her.  She certainly isn't high prey drive.  She doesn't care much about being walked on leash, probably because she feels she may be pulled off balance.  She will stay with you off leash, but will need to be in a safe area. Her foster mom wouldn't do this in an area with traffic anywhere near.  Lacey has no medical issues and has no physical restrictions.  She has learned to function extremely well on three legs. It certainly doesn't bother her, and she doesn't want to be smothered or coddled.

Lacey would love a home with another dog to bond with, a fenced yard and lots of companionship.  She doesn't need much exercise, i.e. being walked several times a day.  She would prefer a quiet home without young children.  She has lots of love to give and loves being petted and talked to.

Contact WAAGR to find out more about this gem of a Golden!  She would love to find her new home for the holidays.

Clancey - #946
Clancey is an 8 to 9-year-old Golden who came to us as a stray from northern Wisconsin.  He is one happy guy!  He gets along great with the other dogs in his foster home.  He loves to express his feelings by barking.  He does pull on a leash, but we are working with him on that!

Since Clancey was on his own for a while, he will get the full doggy spa treatment while he's with us.  He will also be neutered and get his teeth cleaned.  He will be ready for adoption around April 28.  Because he is a stray he can't go to a family with kids under 12.  If you would like to find out more about Clancey, contact WAAGR today.

Angie - #9114 -
adoption pending
Angie is a 8-year-old female Golden mix who is a very nice dog!  She is updated on all vaccinations, spayed and microchipped.  She is waiting for her forever home and hopes it is with YOU!  Here is a note from Angie herself!

My name is Angie and I am an 8-year-old Golden mix that would love to find a home.  My request would be a family that would love to take walks with me.  I love to explore, and my favorite time of day is to go to the barn and take care of the horses.  I get really excited because there are so many interesting things.

I have a very BIG smile and beautiful brown eyes.  I love to play catch.  Being an only dog in my forever home would be perfect or maybe another older dog would be OK.  Active doggies?  PLEASE...I am past that stage!

If you do daily walks and need a walking buddy, and would like a friend to sleep by your bed at night, I would love to meet you!

Sierra #9118
Sierra is a 6 year old angel.  Funny, smart, and affectionate, this sweet girl is a dream.

Sierra came into WAAGR very overweight with a long list of medical issues.  In the last 4 months, she has lost 20 pounds, and we have corrected every problem on the list except for her hips.  But with the weight loss, premium diet, joint supplements and exercise, Sierra can now do what was impossible for her just months ago.  Sierra can now go up and down stairs, get into the van, go for walks and loves to get up on the futon for some one-on-one cuddle time.

Sierra doesn't need to be crate and is very trustworthy home alone.  She's housetrained, loves her soft stuffed toys and rolling in the snow.  This adorable girl is growing a new beautiful coat to replace the one that was shaved off before she came to us and she's getting prettier every day.

She's a perfect companion for an older home, and a real friend for life!  Contact WAAGR to find out more about Sierra.

Banjo - #9161
Well I’ll go ahead & state the obvious:  I’m not a golden, but thankfully, my golden locks saved me from a one-way trip across the “Rainbow Bridge!"  Like any youngster, A LOT of patience, training in basic manners & plenty of exercise will earn me that “Dog of the Year” trophy.  I am a one year old guy!

For those looking for a puppy & all of the joys that go with it, from potty training to crate training and leash training, you can go ahead & stop your search!  I promise not to disappoint!

Since he has been in foster care he has learned to sit and is working on the “off” command.  He is updated on vaccinations, microchipped and neutered.  Contact WAAGR to find out more about Banjo!

Ashleigh - #1010
WAAGR was contacted to help Ashleigh, an 8-year-old puppy mill girl.  Her foster home said when she first came to her home, she was very nervous.  She has come around well and loves attention!

Besides being a bit hand shy, you wouldn't be able to tell this girl came from a puppy mill.  She plays awesome with the other dogs in her foster home and is having fun being a dog!  Her foster mom said that a forever home with at least one another dog would be great.  She's also working hard to learn her name.  A forever home with a fenced yard also would be ideal for her, as would a home with someone that has patience to help Ashleigh become comfortable and learn more about being a dog!

A few more things to know about Ashleigh:  She doesn't need to be kenneled and is not possessive.  She enjoys initiating play with the other dogs in her foster home.  She's a little nervous around kids, but given her background, it will just take some time to get comfortable.

She's spayed, updated on shots and microchipped.  Contact WAAGR to find out more about this great girl!

Dewey - #1019
Dewey came to us from MADACC and we are glad to help him out.  He's a one-year-old, and during his visit to the vet, they guessed him to be a Lab mixed with either Terrier or Ridgeback!  We thought at first he was a Golden mix.

Dewey knows his name and knows how to sit.  He is VERY willing to learn and easy to teach.  He gets along with dogs, but hasn't been tested with cats.  Dewey would do well in any type of home and kids of any age would be fine for Dewey.

His foster mom would love to see him go to obedience class, as she thinks he's ready to learn and would finish at the top of his class!  Dewey is very curious about everything, and would love to have an active family in his forever home.

Dewey is updated on shots, neutered and microchipped.  Contact WAAGR to find out more!
