WHO WE ARE

Wisconsin Adopt a Golden Retriever is an all volunteer, foster-based Golden Retriever rescue organization serving the state of Wisconsin and parts of Illinois since 2005.

Our mission is to provide bright new beginnings to displaced Golden Retrievers.

ADOPTION APPLICATION STATUS: CLOSED

We have closed our applications for now, as we work through our waiting list. We will share here when applications are open again. In the meantime, please read more information about our adoption process below.

Approved families will remain on our active waiting list for one year, unless they contact us and ask to remain on the list longer than that.

(Please note: Once approved, this does not guarantee the adoption of any WAAGR dog.)

Fees:

Dogs under 9 years old: $550*

Senior dogs (9+): $100*
(Fees are tax inclusive.)

Application fee: $35

In 2024, WAAGR spent an average of $1,100 per dog. These costs come from medical bills, transfer costs, behavioral training, etc. Our adoption fee is only $550 per dog, so this is why donations and fundraising are so critical to keep our rescue going.

Since we were established in 2004, WAAGR has been working every day to ensure no golden feels unwanted. We reach places as far away as Puerto Rico, Lebanon, and China. Our love and compassion for these animals shows through our small team of volunteers that tirelessly strive towards our goal of having every golden end the day in a warm bed surrounded by a loving family.
